GRL has 3 runways and 2 additional landable areas. Upon entering the gravel track and reaching the first windsock, please turn right along the entrance track.
The main clubhouse has one gents', one ladies' and one disabled toilet. The camping area is to the west of the clubhouse. At the back, there is a block with 4 showers and 4 toilets. Next to it is the block of accommodation for instructors.
The orange area can be used to pitch 2-seaters overnight, but the area is part of an active runway and must be cleared before daily operations. You will see other gliders pitched alongside, but those are paid-for spots by full members of Cambridge Gliding Centre.
All trailers as well as aircraft which might not be used every morning should be pitched in the green areas below.
Within the 27 ‘cut-out’: close to the clubhouse and convenient.
Between the 04 and 09 thresholds: if all above-mentioned locations are full.
View of the shower block and the back door of the clubhouse. 4 showers in total, accessible 24/7.

We will need to share the fleet and launch queue with regular club members with bookings, who will have priority over the high performance single seaters (pegase and discus). We have:
To convert, you must be current in Stalling and spinning in the preceding 6 weeks, the appropriate launch method, and pass 2 check flights on the day. You will receive a briefing about the sailplane from an Assistant Instructor, which must include how to DI the sailplane and also reference the relevant Type Conversion Card (available on the CGC website). You will also be quizzed on the flight manual (e.g. stall speed, max launch speed).
Junior: Minimum of 5 solo flights in fibreglass glider (e.g. K21) and “off-checks”. Winch solo.
Note: The junior has poor penetration and is not suitable for going out of gliding range (15km) of the club.
ASW19: Minimum of 10 solo flights in Junior/fibreglass single-seater and “off-checks”. Winch solo.
Other universities are also bringing several gliders, they may choose to place restrictions on what experience level is required to fly them.
We're anticipating the motorglider will be available on some days for cross-country training, depending on instructor availability. Aerotows will be available.
Due to safety reasons (and the fact that every winch is different), you will need to go through full winch driver training even if you've been driving the winch at another airfield.
